POLICE at Paphos airport have arrested a man caught trying to leave the country on false documents.

The 20-year old man, who has been identified as a national of Cameroon, was attempting to board a flight to Brussels.

He presented a fake French passport to immigration staff, which he is thought to have bought in north Cyprus.

Earlier this month, three people were arrested at the same airport, after being discovered attempting to leave the country with false papers.

An Iraqi man, aged 46 and his wife, 41, and their 16-year-old daughter were attempting to board a flight to Germany.

They were understood to have entered Cyprus either on illegal documents, or via the Buffer Zone.
